I shifted the Minolta 28-85mm lens into the macro mode to capture this hand held close up. Besides letting me get close, the macro setting actually created a very narrow field of focus. The apple is the only thing in focus, everything else is soft and dreamy. The kicker is the exposure on this image is 1/2000sec@f/9. Generally f/9 would produce a fairly wide depth of field, especially at the 28mm focal length this was shot at. By engaging the macro setting, however, the DOF was reduced to make the apple pop out of the background.
