I live in the Netherlands and there is a big publicity campaign here promoting the d-slr. There is also a television advertisement promoting the alphas and the sony bravias.

Only today I spotted Sony Sponsoring the F1 motor racing coverage on ITV (UK television channel). The outake shot leading into the adverts had a Vario-Sonnar lenses featured. On the intro from the adverts the screen displayed a camcorder and compact camera either side of a alpha dSLR, with the Alpha logo underneath it.

Maybe Sony are stepping up their marketing campaigns...

I use Sony DSLR. I have owned a minolta since the 70's and when Sony took the name I continued with Sony as my lenses fit. I am disappointed in the Alpha line because it is so difficult to buy lenses for these digital cameras. They are hard to find and expensive.

This reminds me of the Bravia commercials a couple of years ago - the bouncing balls in SF and the paint one. Were they even shown in the US? They were used heavily in Europe. It's like they think the US is already at Idiocracy stage and doesn't appreciate cool ads.
