The 9xi came after the 7xi I think, and shortly after the 9xi came, the 700si (and line) came out. The 9 was first, and then a fair while after, the 7.

On the contrary, the mid-range or upper-mid-range model sometimes came first. The original Maxxum 7000 came before the Maxxum 9000. I think there are other examples.
