It's really sad that Sony has to defend itself against people who think that it's not a "real" camera company. Sony has been making expert, quality broadcast gear for decades while the toymakers are just now dabbling in it. Sony actually makes the important components that the toymakers put in their toys. And unlike the toymakers' toys, Sony will still sell you the parts to keep your expert-level Sony digital imaging equipment running years after the warranty expired--as opposed to refusing to sell repair parts and hoping the consumer (definitely not a customer when treated this way) tosses it in a landfill and buys another. Consumer-expensed landfills are not part of Sony's business model, I guess.

Alternatively you could believe that the brand name stamped on the front of the strobo assembly makes the doped silicon inside respond differently to light. Or maybe you believe software alters the base characteristics of silicon atoms. (And maybe you also believe you can trim colors better than an imaging research scientist and orange skin looks natural.) You may also be interested in this bridge I have to sell to the east of Manhattan.
