Can I make a advice? I feel youve acquired one thing good here. However what if you happen to added a pair links to a website that backs up what youre saying? Or perhaps you probably can give us something to take a look at, something that would join what you are expressing to one thing touchable? Only a suggestion. This is one excellent camera, even with the relatively low megapixels resolution the overall quality of features for this price makes one of the bests (if not the best) machines of the category.

yeah, i’m starting to belive it too (sadly) but i’m just dissapointed i guess… i guess it makes sense though, i just wish i could have waited for this new one to come out or something… if it has CMOS i’m going to have a tough decision to make…

Hi Tony, thanks for dropping by.

You’re right, I don’t believe any of the “recall” stuff, Sony has gone on record as saying it isn’t true. I do think the A100 has been discontinued, probably to make room for another, similar dSLR. Manufacturers do this sort of thing all time, They stop production of a popular model so they can replace it with improved, less-expensive gear. If not, Ford would still be selling it’s very popular Model A sedans (from 1928). Technology is always moving forward and many people suggest that dSLR models only last about 18 months before newer ones appear.

In addition, if you read David Kilpatrick’s article, he says that Sony may have used up all the sensors used in the A100, making it difficult to produce the exact same camera.

now wait a minute here! Didnt sony’s electronics blog just post a couple weeks ago that they were NOT discontinuing the alpha? http://news.sel.sony.com/electronicsblog/?p=9

I dont think i believe any of this discontinuing and recalling stuff going around. Why would it make sense for them to discontinue a camera which was named camera of the year in pop photo mag. for last year? They would loose a LOT of business if customers saw that they were doing that, i know I for one would sell my alpha and buy a canon if that were the deal…
