What about the old canon FD mount lenses? I know that they both have the same flange distance (42 mm, i think). If this is the case, why would an adaptor need "corrective glass" if they both focus the image from the same distance?

Great article. Thanks for sorting this out for me; it saved me a great deal of confusion. I have a Sony SLT A35, and I'm slowly building up my lens collection with some prime lenses with wide apertures.

My question why are their only five contacts on the Minolta A-Mounts and their's 8 contacts on my Sony Alpha lens? What do the other three contacts on my Sony lens do?

In reply to <a href="https://alphatracks.com/using-minolta-lenses-on-the-sony-alpha/#comment-9404">Hans Smedbol</a>.

Hans,

There are no digital cameras that will use the older Rokkor lenses directly, You can use an adapter that will allow you to mount and use your lenses on a Sony Alpha or a Sony Nex camera. They will provide great images, but you will have to do without auto diaphragm, auto focus and image stabilization. In addition, most Sony Alphas will only allow you to shoot in the manual mode with an adapter, so you will loose auto exposure as well. Despite these drawbacks, I still use several old Rokkor lenses and get great results. See http://alphatracks.com/archives/836 for more information at Minolta lenses on the Sony Alpha.

As far as where you can obtain an adapter, most large camera stores carry them, including B&H Photo. You can also find them on ebay. You are looking for a Minolta MC/MD to A-Mount adapter.

Good luck, Tom

i have a Minolta X 300 from the 1980's which uses the Rokkor lenses, with MD mount, (Manual focus lenses) i wonder if there is a Sony digital SLR camera which is compatible with these lenses, or if you know where one might obtain an adapter to make the lenses compatible...if one gets the adapter, then which Sony DSLR cameras would work with that?

i had read that the Alpha 700 would work, (but i think with adapter)...would others also work?

I have been weight lifting for about annually . 5.... And that i noticed that as time passes the only real time that I had been sore was doing leg exercises. To create a long story short, I had been hangin out with one of the trainers, and she or he demonstrated a bunch of new exercises (its nothing like we spend a lot of time on them either!) The following day I had been sore from top to bottom. Basicly what i am getting at is the fact that you might have been stuck in the rut to do the same kind of routine. However, if you change up your routine your body feels it! Continue the good work!
